The Ember Smell of Winter was the first short story that had been written within the past four years. The last horror story was written many years prior. Such was the need to experiment on cosmic horror to get the vibes going.

The Ember Smell of Winters tells the tale of a city that had been struck with a curse where every deceased person turns to wood. This renewable-resource horror struck the city hard that those who have died and not afflicted with the curse were raised to a higher status.
