Following the death of her mother, Merinette spent much of her childhood under the care of her extended relatives where she grew a close bond with her half-aunt, Mandy.

Her desire to impress her aunt led her to be eaten by an egg.

And, since then, she was reluctant in engaging with the surreal entities of Wellington, opting instead, to focus on her academics as a means to help her family.
